Take Kids To The Omaha Children's Museum

While the summer season is a time to take things easy, you still enjoy doing activities with your children that will engage their intellect and imagination. What activities or attractions can you find that allow your kids to learn while having fun? If you live in Omaha, then the answer is to take your kids this summer to the Omaha’s Children Museum.

Exhibits

The museum is filled with plenty of fun permanent and special exhibits that your child will enjoy. At the Art Smart Center, there are plenty of ways for your kids to work on their artistic skills with Sketch Town, Face Painting, Paint Window, and more. If you have little ones, then they will enjoy playing at the Imagination Playground. They can pretend to be a doctor in the Children’s Hospital & Medical Center interactive area or pretend to be a farmer at the Barn where there is a cornfield and chicken coop.

At the S.T.E.A.M. Cave exhibit, your child can interact with stations that involve science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Your kids can literally and figuratively work on their motor skills in the Walker Tire and Auto Service Center. At this exhibit, children can pretend to be a mechanic working on vehicles in the auto shop. On a truly, hot summer day, let your kids enjoy some time at the Sandy’s Splish-Splash Garden. Outside the museum is a small water play area. There are sprays, spouts, and more for your child to splish and splash in that will make for a great time.

Events

While there are so many fun and wonderful things to see and discover any time during the week at the museum, the Omaha Children’s Museum does host some truly exciting events throughout the year. There are Sensory Hours on certain days throughout the year where the museum will adjust the light and sound of the exhibits to help those who would thrive in a more sensory-friendly atmosphere.

At the end of July, you should bring the whole family to participate in the Fairytale Ball. The ball will be held July 21st through July 23rd. Your children can make crafts that even royals would love, dance with princesses, and so much more.

There are also two summer camps at the museum. Each camp is catered to a different age range, the first being four and five years old and the other being six through eight years old. Your child can participate in a range of activities that will encourage their love of learning.
