HondaLink vs. Chevy MyLink

HondaLink Chevy MyLink Omaha

HondaLink and Chevy MyLink are called “infotainment systems.” These systems now play a major part in the car buying decision because of how much time people spend in their vehicles. For the past few years, these systems have come standard with many cars. However, the features can differ, which causes each system to meet the requirements of different Omaha drivers.

Chevy MyLink

GM has put the MyLink infotainment system in its Chevrolet models. It has Bluetooth audio streaming, takes voice commands, and has a touchscreen. MyLink is also connected to OnStar, which means you have collision support, live advisors, and vehicle diagnostics. OnStar is a very important feature since a lost driver or a driver with an emergency behind the wheel can very quickly get help.

Honda joined the world of infotainment a bit later than other companies did. However, this gave Honda time to see what those companies were doing so that it could offer a competitive system. Honda introduced HondaLink in the 2013 Accord. It also offers Bluetooth audio streaming and accepts voice commands. The voice command function can be used to find points of interest. The newest feature is Aha Radio, which is unique because of its personalized web content. You can listen to podcasts, traffic reports, and the news and get restaurant reviews. HondaLink also reads you your Twitter and Facebook feeds over the car’s speakers.

The Bottom Line

The main thing that Chevy MyLink has going for it is OnStar access, which comes standard with many GM cars as it is. While the push-button feature is nice, emergency services can be easily accessed through mobile phones. OnStar does come at an additional cost; otherwise, it doesn’t work. However, HondaLink comes with a lot more, making it “infotainment” in every sense of the word. It allows you to keep your eyes on the road and less on your phone or the navigation system. HondaLink also has an app that allows you to control it from your mobile.
