The 2020 Honda Civic is one of the best vehicles on the market right now. Even though hardly any changes were made from the 2019 model, the Civic still stands out from the crowd with its technology, safety, and affordability. But what do the other options out there look like? One direct competitor is the 2020 Hyundai Elantra, another affordable compact car. In order to truly appreciate the Civic, though, we need to examine both cars side by side.
Interior and Exterior
Both the Civic and the Elantra are similar in size, but the Civic has a leg up with some more room in the back seat legroom. Both interiors are cozy, but objectively the Civic uses nicer materials and offers a more modern, classy feel inside the cabin.
The Civic, which is available as a coupe, a sedan, or a hatchback, got a facelift in 2019 which carries over to the 2020 model. The Elantra comes as a sedan, but another hatchback model is available. The sedan versions of both vehicles are virtually the same size, and both cars feature a similar look and sporty style.

Tech
Tech can be a huge hit or miss for a car these days. And while the Elantra does have standard features such as a driver attention monitor, dual0zone automatic climate control, and forward-collision warning with brake assist, it’s still easy to see that the Civic has it outnumbered. The standard Civic comes locked and loaded with the Honda Sensing suite, which in itself takes the whole package to the next level. Lane-keeping assist, road departure mitigation, collision mitigation braking, and adaptive cruise control only scratch the surface. The 7-inch infotainment system has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay® capabilities, bringing it fully up to date with the best.
It’s pretty clear that the Civic consistently comes out on top. There’s a reason why Honda is known for its reliability, quality, and ability to pack value into everything. The Civic is no exception. Find yours when you browse our inventory online!
