If you’re considering the purchase of a new Honda, you may be wondering whether the Honda Fit or the HR-V is the right choice for your needs. Below, we cover both vehicles to help you determine which vehicle might be the best buy for you.
Honda HR-V
One of the first things to know about the Honda HR-V is that it is actually based on the same platform as the Fit, so you should expect some similarities. One of the key differences between the HR-V and the Fit is that the HR-V is larger, which means you will have more passenger space as well as cargo space with the HR-V than with the Fit. Both vehicles feature Honda’s Magic Seats. This means you can configure interior space in order to accommodate cargo size and space to your needs. When it comes to power, the Honda HR-V boasts a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine capable of generating 138 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. The engine on the HR-V couples with a CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission.
Honda Fit
The Honda Fit is powered by a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower of output and 114 pound-feet of torque. If you’re looking for good fuel economy, you will find it with the Honda Fit. This vehicle has an average city mpg of 29 and highway mpg of 37. By comparison, the fuel economy on the HR-V is slightly lower with 28 city mpg* and 35 highway mpg*. Although the Honda Fit’s dimensions are not quite as spacious as those of the HR-V, both vehicles are able to accommodate five passengers. In terms of safety, the Fit is an IIHS Top Safety Pick. Both vehicles are equipped with a standard rear-view camera.
