Put a 2015 and 2016 Honda CR-V side by side, and you won’t notice too many differences. The CR-V stayed largely the same for the 2016 model year after a more dramatic change for 2015. There is, however, one significant change worth talking about: the addition of a new trim level.
2016 Honda CR-V Special Edition Trim
If you want access to the Honda CR-V Special Edition (SE) trim, you will need to choose the 2016 model year. This trim is situated right above the base LE. It doesn’t add too many features, but it offers an impressive value for those who find the additions useful. Choosing the CR-V SE will give you all the amenities of the LE trim plus rear tinted glass, a security system, and 17-inch alloy wheels instead of the 16-inch steel wheels on the LX trim. These enhancements only cost $800 more than the CR-V LX, making the SE trim an excellent value.
With the addition of the SE trim, there are five trims for the 2016 CR-V in addition to drivetrain options. The 2015 CR-V offered four trims. These included the LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring.
2015 and 2016 Honda CR-V Similarities
Other than the new SE trim, the 2015 and 2016 Honda CR-V models do not have any major changes. All models still come standard with power accessories, air-conditioning, and a rearview camera. The CR-V is still the class leader in terms of American sales and popularity, and for good reason. Experts enjoy its build quality, firm ride, and responsive engine.
