Start Your Engine
One of the keys to good battery life is to drive your car regularly. Your alternator charges the battery while you drive your vehicle, but its ability to charge can be affected by a variety of factors. Every week or so, you should drive for at least a half an hour in order to keep your battery charged. If you haven’t cranked your car in a couple of weeks, the battery may not be strong enough to start your car. If it’s been a month (or more), you’re likely going to need to pull out the jumper cables. Don’t plan on using your car for a bit? It’s a good idea to disengaging the security system and disconnect the terminal wires in order to save on battery life.
