Stay safe when driving around Nebraska in any of the new 2016 Honda Accords. With the addition of the brand new Honda Sensing suite, it is no surprise that the Accord models received top safety ratings. This is just further proof that consumers are right to choose the Accord over other options, giving it a spot on the “10Best” list from Car and Driver 29 times.
Honda Accord’s IIHS Safety Ratings
When rating vehicles for safety, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) scores them on several different categories. In order to receive the ranking of a Top Safety Pick, vehicles have to earn a top ranking of “Good” in nearly every category, something with both the 2016 Accord Sedan and Coupe did without any problems. The Top Safety Pick+ ranking requires a Superior or Advanced rating for an available frontal crash prevention system as well. With the new Honda Sensing Suite, the Forward Collision Warning system is included. This system received a Superior rating from the IIHS, meaning that Accord models equipped with it give you the reassurance of a Top Safety Pick+ ranking.
Honda Accord with Sensing Suite
The biggest news in safety for the 2016 Honda Accord is the addition of the Honda Sensing Suite, which is optional on every single Accord model and comes standard on the top touring trim. In addition to the Forward Collision Warning System, this suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies also includes Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and a Collision Mitigation Braking System.
